(From the Ski museum website):
The Holmenkollen scarf was first launched in 1946, in connection with the first Holmenkollen Ski Festival after World War II. It quickly became a popular garment.
The scarf was used to keep warm on ski trips, as a sun top at the beach, or as a tablecloth.
It was an accessory that could be used for everyday life and celebrations alike, worn by royalty as well as ordinary people. The scarf was sold during the annual Holmenkollen Ski Festival.
A Nod to History
To celebrate the Ski Museum's 100th anniversary, we have created a new Holmenkollen scarf. As a nod to history, designer Ingjerd Sandven has created two new patterns that convey the joy of skiing and playing in the snow.
Silk and Cotton
The new scarf comes in two versions. One is made of cotton, featuring elements and colors inspired by the Holmenkollen scarves of the past.
The silk scarf has a more playful expression and embraces both older and newer skiing techniques.
